Life in my 70’s
Life in my 70’s has presented me with new paths, new adventures, and new connections. The professional skills and experiences I have collected for over 50 years are now catalogued and stored for use whenever I need them. It’s what will be driving me forward into my new world. I’ve been writing feature stories and academic content all my life, but I never saw it as an adventure. Now, my infinite curiosity has hooked me on travel, near and far in a whole new light.
What an amazing thing it is now to be very selective about the projects I choose to do. Writing and teaching have been my professional life and I chose those fields because I never have intended to retire. Well, if I find I’m doing bad or sloppy work, I’ll quit. Otherwise, I shall croak doing what I love.
Personal stuff
Married to Tom for 48 ½ years before his death in 2014; 2 married daughters (Michelle and Becky) who taught me a lot about being a parent and who are rocks under all circumstances in the real world; 3 of the smartest, cutest, rambunctious grandsons ever to exist; 1 step-grandson married and off in his Ph.D. world of computer science; remarried to a Brit born in Cardiff, Wales – the land of rugby and pubs and friendly people, a former London Bobby, and a car guy, and a dog guy. Richard keeps me laughing and learning about lamb, all things curry, Welsh Cakes, British history, pubs, Royalty, the BBC, the ocean, and the English Language – “proper British style.”
